"Venom: Let There Be Carnage" is a 2021 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Venom, and it is a sequel to the 2018 film "Venom." Directed by Andy Serkis, the movie stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a journalist who is bonded with an alien symbiote named Venom, giving him superhuman abilities and a monstrous alter-ego.

In this film, Eddie Brock is struggling to coexist with Venom, who constantly craves violence and chaos. Meanwhile, Eddie attempts to reignite his career by interviewing the notorious serial killer Cletus Kasady, played by Woody Harrelson. However, things take a dark turn when Kasady becomes the host for another powerful symbiote, known as Carnage, which enhances his already violent tendencies.

The movie is a blend of action, horror, and dark humor, focusing on the intense and often chaotic relationship between Eddie and Venom, as they face the threat of Carnage. The film explores themes of identity, control, and the struggle between good and evil within a person. The visuals are striking, especially during the symbiote battles, where Venom and Carnage clash in explosive, high-energy sequences.

The dynamic between Eddie and Venom continues to be a central element, providing both humor and tension as they navigate their unusual partnership while confronting a powerful and terrifying new enemy.

The first king of Aurea leads an attack on a dragon who resides in his realm; the attack is a failure, and the king is left at the dragon's mercy.

Centuries later, Elodie, daughter of Lord Bayford, receives a proposal from Queen Isabelle of Aurea to marry Prince Henry. On Bayford's advice, Elodie accepts to help their impoverished people, and she and her family sail to Aurea. Upon meeting, Elodie and Henry initially both seem disinterested in each other but begin to bond as they both share a desire to travel. Elodie’s stepmother, Lady Bayford, seeks out the queen hoping to chat and strengthen their familial bond, but Isabelle rebuffs attempts to become acquainted, leading Lady Bayford to futilely implore Elodie to end the engagement.

After the wedding, Elodie and Henry take part in an ancient ritual in the mountains, supposedly to celebrate their union. The queen, dressed as a priestess, describes the pact between the first king and the dragon in which he had to sacrifice his three daughters for peace. Elodie is given a gold coin to throw into the chasm, making her believe that it is a tribute to the dragon. Henry insists on carrying Elodie across the narrow path over the chasm, then throws her down into the dragon's lair.

After realizing that she is the sacrifice, Elodie starts to look for a way out and wanders into a lair. The dragon enters the lair, asks her name, and taunts her before chasing Elodie and burning her leg. After escaping the beast, Elodie begins to explore the surrounding area and finds an illuminated cave with glowing worms, which she collects as a light source. The dragon finds her again, and upon fleeing, Elodie finds a chamber with the note "Safe Here She Cannot Reach". This chamber has a wall with the names of past victims and a map carved into the wall. While Elodie sleeps, the glowing worms heal the burn on her leg.

Elodie follows the map, but it leads to a dead end at a high vertical drop on the side of the mountain. She discovers the remains of dead dragon hatchlings and therefore the reason for the royal sacrifices. A rescue party led by Lord Bayford arrives. The dragon kills Bayford and his men, but the distraction allows Elodie to climb a rope to escape the mountain. She then takes one of the rescue party's horses and hides in a small rock, while the dragon burns the area surrounding the mountain in an unsuccessful pursuit

The conflagration alerts Isabelle that Elodie's sacrifice has failed, causing her to have Elodie's sister Floria kidnapped as a replacement. Elodie returns to the mountain to rescue Floria after learning of the kidnapping from her stepmother. The dragon leaves Floria alive as bait for Elodie.

Mack and her tight group of guy friends, Adam (Damon Wayans Jr), Brannagan (Augustus Pew), and his younger brother (Joel Courtney) spend most of their evenings drinking beer and playing pool, while also helping each other zero in and clinch their hook-up for the night. Mack is the leader of the pack and the group plays by their rule book with several strategies and code words in place. But when Mack has a one-night stand with Nick (Tom Ellis), a celebrated war correspondent, she decides she wants more. She reasons with her friends, she is 33 years old and needs a mature relationship and some adulting at this stage of her life. Enter Ashley (Liza Koshy), as the female friend of Mack, to complete the group of 'Players'. Their strategies now get more detailed, literally with PowerPoint presentations, graphs, and tables to map Nick's activities and dating schedules. And while Adam is totally supportive of what Mack wants, he thinks she should do the 'no play' play and let Nick know her for who she really is.

'Players' is a quintessential rom-com, even though it packs in a few adult themes like casual flings and some raunchiness. One can whiff the course it will take right from the beginning, though director Trish Sie infuses it with a fun, carefree vibe which makes it a breezy watch. The narrative also weaves in a layer of self-assertion and self-belief to drive home what a mature relationship really entails. Gina Rodriguez as the central character pretty much carries the film on her shoulders with her vivacious, bold, and at times vulnerable act. Tom Ellis and Damon Wayans Jr. also pitch in with their efficient performances.
